It's always a funny surprise to see a plot device be acknowledged by the show, considering that Jinta remarks to Menma that using wishes as motivation is starting to feel like an excuse. It doesn't really matter though, as the reason is not so clear cut this time around. Besides, Poppo's the real plot driver here.

So basically, this felt like a three episode prologue to the first "in reality" meeting between Makoto and Erio. Due to her being such an incoherent wall until now, coming to her senses actually did feel like, "oh wow, so she can be normal." Would this be a moe gap?

With Kirino still out of the picture, it looks like Kuroneko will get to keep the spotlight for just a bit longer. I admit that I've missed seeing and hearing Kirino -- especially since she's apparently turned a new leaf. That and I expected her to make some sort of appearance somewhere!I also enjoy utilizing the filmstrip style.
