Kuroko no Basuke 3 – 22

「忠告だ」 (Chuukokuda)
“A Warning”

After weeks of watching Seirin play from behind, it was a nice change of pace to see the momentum finally swing in their direction. While we’ll have to wait and see what the repercussions are for gaining that momentum, I’m 100% everyone on Team Seirin will say it was worth it at the end.

Captain Hyuuga Junpei

I have nothing but praise for Hyuuga this week. Learning from his past mistakes and channeling that fiery attitude of his toward finding a way to victory, it felt so damn good watching him get back on his feet. But what might be even more impressive is how he managed to help the team as a whole find the stability they needed to get things done. From brightening Koga’s spirits to yelling just the right words to get Teppei back in action, his ability to bring out the best in his teammates highlights just why Hyuuga is Seirin’s team captain.

Also, didn’t it feel fantastic to watch him completely shutdown Mibuchi? After that outbreak and getting a fourth foul by letting the guy get into his head, it was pure bliss watching Hyuuga return the favor and then some.

Akashi “Aizen” Seijuro

After getting through the episode, I couldn’t believe just how much more Akashi had hiding inside of him. I mean, between just his Emperor Eye and insane analytical sense I thought we had an already formidable opponent but to add the zone into the mix? How far do these writers think we’re willing to go? Because if there’s one thing that should be nearly impossible against a high level team like this, it’s should be the ability for one man to drive that ball the entire freaking way.

Then again, who am I to say that it isn’t possible for Akashi to unlock the zone at will? For someone who can literally make anyone bow to his power, I guess it’s somewhat fitting to have such a ridiculous ability. If there was one thing that I can’t agree with though, it’d have to be how he has to throw away his team to unlock his full potential. We’ve seen just how important it is time and time again to not forget about the people who support you both on and off the court and I can’t imagine this’ll be the game that’ll prove that ideal wrong.

Looking Ahead

With things looking pretty grim for Seirin with Akashi is the zone, it looks like it’ll take another miracle from Kagami to even the scales. Luckily, it looks like Akashi gets pretty angry in the preview sequence which can only mean something has once again mucked up his plans — and I can’t wait to see what it is!

See you next week!

That increase in animation quality when Akashi did it across the court.

      • Brian

        Basketball on steroids.

      • Yuri

Shit got real the moment I saw Akashi making Hyuuga and Izuki kneel.

      • Hitler-kun

Damn Akashi making his opponents kneel before him, with that epic badass power he can get every women in the world to get on their knees.

    • bOOtywarrior

Stay in that pose of admiration and realize… your defeat is absolute. – Akashi

Akashi in the zone is every bit as glorious as I thought it would be.

      • Yuri

Hyuuga looked badass the moment when his glasses shined.

    • Heike

Kuroko fans will get a lot of Kuroko awesomeness in the remaining 4 episodes.

      • Yuri

Basketball is a team sport and Akashi abandoning his team mates is probably why his basketball is doomed to fail and Seirin will win.

    • Kaye

I hope Kuroko pulls out a new move too. Something aside from his misdirection and previously-learned skills.

      • You guessed right!

Spoiler hint: Only Kuroko can beat the Emperor Eye.

    • Cusack

I can guess the trigger to enter that second gate…

    • Kenpachi Fried Chicken

I wonder what opening this second gate to the zone would be like. Things are only going to get more intense from here.

      • then Kagami will reach Tenin Muhou no Kiwami and everyone will have fun playing tennis.

    • Yuri

At least we finally got to see some great animation that they were probably saving money for.

      • Glutton

Production IG is clearly a studio that knows how to use its budget where it matters most.

  1. Thomas

When Akashi did a fake against Kuroko and Teppei, wasn’t that a foul? I think it’s called ”up and down” It’s basically jumping up and down without shooting or passing.

Anyway, this was one of the best episodes of Season 3. I hope they keep up the quality for the remaining 4 episodes.

    • High Projectile 3

No, Akashi didn’t catch the ball with both hands and bounce again. That’s why it isn’t a foul.

  2. Reikakou

For anime only fans, everything just gets even MORE ridiculously AWESOME from this point forward.

So the next 4 episodes can be summed up like…

    Akashi: ZONE? Easypeasy.
    Kagami: DAMN!
Kuroko: Remember Kagami, you have a shadow.
Kagami: AH! YEAH! Bring it, Akashi!!!
Akashi: Did you ever think that THAT was my final form!?
    Kagami: Kuroko… please… open it.
Kuroko: Akashi… do remember that I am only a shadow.
    ~End of the Series~

Seems like Kuroko’s misdirection is at work here. ;D

  4. emd23

I always laughed at people who said Akashi couldn’t take Aomine because of Zone.

LMAO say that again. Kagami was left behind in another century.

    • Takaii

After he interrupted Kagami’s Meteor Jam and then blew passed everyone, my mouth was like 😮

    • Thomas

I was hoping Akashi’s zone will have the colours pink and yellow like his heterochromia eyes

Personally, I think he’d look way cooler with those mismatched lightning eye colors.

    • Red HeartGold ZX

Maybe they didn’t make it that way since Kise already owns the color yellow for the eyes. But pink and orange would’ve been fine

    • random viewer

I think they feel find with it as long as it brings victory for Rakuzan.
Akashi’s trigger is the polar opposite to Kagami’s since Kagami needs to enter the ZONE for his team and Akashi abandons them instead.

For anyone’s information, the current opening song has been released.

    • Kaye

I’ve been listening to it for 4 days now. I’m just waiting for the ED. :3

      Title: Lantana
      Artist: OLDCODEX
Full single to release on June 10, 2015.

  7. Mormegil

The animation and direction during Akashi’s Zone sequence was outstanding.
