Introduction – I know what you’re thinking. Hmph.

Greetings, mongrels. The name is Weiss Rue, and you will address me as such—no abbreviations, no nicknames. Got it? I’m the newest (and clearly best-dressed) addition to the dominatrix writing corps here at Random Curiosity. Behave yourselves, or I will whip you into shape—literally if necessary. Don’t test me. Hmph. Due to a rather chaotic storm of “random” and “curious” circumstances, I’ve begun using this moniker across the net. My anime background? Trying to explain it would be like teaching a toddler calculus—futile and headache-inducing. So instead, here’s a little peek into the chaotic curiosity that is my soul. If any of this resonates with you, congratulations—we may both be doomed, but at least we’re doomed together.

Calling All Prospective Writers (and Content Creators)!

Anime coverage is a crazy job

It’s always a fun time concocting these posts, and the latest one isn’t any exception. We – well, me! – have been dragging our heels since forever, and as usual staying hip and with the times waits for no one. Random Curiosity is one again in need of new recruits, and much like before you best believe we have an opportunity for everyone!

Random Curiosity’s Top Three Anime!

Decisions are hard!

For all we gush about various anime each season - and we gush a lot - there’s still some which stand above the rest for us here at Random Curiosity. And now thanks to the request of our Patreon subscriber Mikhail Klakotskiy we (or at least the most active team members :P) have a reason to get off our lazy behinds and talk about them. That’s right, these are Random Curiosity’s writers’ top three anime of all time!

Donations: They’re (A)live!

It do be like that sometimes

As promised in the recent post regarding Random Curiosity's latest changes, donations are coming to the site – and with this post said donations can now be considered live!

To start with (as some might’ve spotted already) you can find our Ko-Fi link in the righthand sidebar. This one is simple enough: like what we do? Want to give us a one-off cup of coffee? Feel free to do so with that link, that’s what it’s now there for!

The big one, however, is our new Patreon, which yes is also live and whose link can either be found right above the Ko-Fi one or right here in case you’d rather read on. After all, there’s just a tad more detail involved with it.

Random Curiosity’s New Age

Wait, things are changing?

If there’s one predictable constant in life it’s change. Everything changes at some point, whether that be the seasons, life circumstances, or the very anime we’re here enjoying to the fullest, and the only thing we can do is roll with the punches. Random Curiosity is no exception to this rule, and as repeatedly teased in a few posts now change has come to this site. Major change.

Reader’s Choice – Best of Anime 2021 Poll

The end of the year is here and it's time for the 16th Annual Reader's Choice poll. Do you have a favorite series you'd like to see win? Are you just curious to see what everyone else enjoyed this year? There's no electoral college here. The anime with the most votes wins!

As per the usual, there will be two polls for you to vote on this year - one for regularly broadcast TV series, and another for OVA/movies. We're asking you for your top 5 picks in each poll, which should stop the results from being heavily skewed towards the mega-popular shows. This year we have ~170 TV series and ~60 OVA/movies for you to choose from. Keep in mind that like all entertainment, anime is subjective. There is no one size fits all here. Please respect the opinions of others, even if you may disagree with them.

Note: To give viewers more time to vote, the polls will close this year at 9:00 AM PST on January 5th, giving you the most time possible before the Best of Anime post comes out with the results. This means the 9:00 AM in the afternoon in PST or 3:00 PM GMT on the 5th.

Introduction – A Backbone of Japanese Values

Hello there! My name is Gabie. I am a self-employed Brazilian designer, social media strategist, copywriter and digital marketer. I am also the mother of two cats (a midget devil called Jupiter and an adventurer called Mago) and two lady dogs (a blind husky called Jerry Bonksalot—yes, she bonks in a lot of places—and a highly anxious mixed beagle called Pina).

My day to day life consists of working, cooking, baking, weight-lifting, watching anime with my boyfriend, reading manga, fanfics, trying to understand human behavior and drinking tea.

I recently binged One Piece starting on episode one all the way to the latest episode available, which I think was 964—in a total of two months and thirteen days. I had just taken a step back from overworking and was a bit lost regarding my professional career.

When going through periods like these some might take a sabbatical, go to a retreat or simply spend some time in nature away from everything. But given the current situation, me being an introvert, and the fact that I live in a tropical island in the middle of Southeast Asia where the only nature I get is either going to the garbage-littered tourist beaches or to the ass-sweat-snake-jungles, I decided to give this epic saga a go.
